A recent point of view sent to us from patient Mrs Pauline Clarke…
We’d like to thank Pauline for taking the time to express her opinion and for allowing us to share this with all of our patients.
“I was at the reception desk in Netherfield surgery a few weeks ago, I saw and heard a patient, shouting and using foul language at a receptionist, because they couldn’t see a doctor there and then.
She was offered a nurse prescriber appointment later that day, but she didn’t want that.
She was told she could book in for a telephone consultation with a doctor and that didn’t suit her either.
I have used the telephone service and it works very well, if the doctor thinks you should be seen that day, they will give you an appointment or give you a prescription to pick up that day.
It is shameful that abuse is shouted at people that are trying their best to help and accommodate your request.
Our doctors can be at the surgery to start work at 7am in the morning and often don’t finish until 7pm in the evening and then they have paperwork to do.
How often do we do a 12+ hour work day? So let’s be mindful of the doctors work load, they do serve us well and certainly don’t deserve abuse.”
